The Software
Update function will load/update the software components with
the software file stored on an external memory device. The update
version must be greater than the current version running on
the terminal. If not, it will revert to the current version.
This step procedure describes
how to perform a software update for the RL/FT5000/RL/RT2000. You
will need a Flash drive device (USB storage device) with the terminal
software loaded in it.
1
Connect the USB external memory device to the Docking
Board assembly (X-Scale) or the X2 Main Board assembly (X2). Make
sure to allow time for the memory device to be read by the terminal.
2
Enter Management Functions > Main Menu > System
Parameters > Software Update. The above screen appears.
3
The Look in field
should be the USB location.
If it’s not present, press CANCEL
to leave the Software Update screen and then re-enter the same screen.
When the Look in field has
USB present, the Filename
field should have the terminal software, size, and date/time attributes
for each file loaded in the USB drive. NOTE.
4
Use the arrow keys (<
and >) to highlight the
selected file. Press ENTER
when selected.
5
A screen will appear verifying the selected file and prompt
to restart the terminal. Press ENTER
to continue.
6
The terminal will restart at this time and the installation
of the software will be performed automatically. After the terminal
completes it’s reboot sequence, remove the USB drive device.
NOTE: An additional restart
is recommended after the file is loaded.
